Santa is Coming...
This short film is about a child, who one night, stays up to see Santa, but what she saw was not what she was expecting, leaving her in shock, shaking in her bed. This animation was very simple, it had basic colours which were bold on screen, the colours mainly used were dark to create a mysterious sensation/atmosphere. The background tune was also continuously pitchy, making the audience on edge as they start to get a feeling that something is not quite right about a story of a child who stays up and sees Santa.
Christmas But Comes Once a Year
This short film is about young children who wake up and find that all the presents they have received were broken, a Christmas enthusiast man passes by the house and hears the children crying and so spends the film creating a magical Christmas for them all. In the animation, you notice that the majority of the movements are repeated, making the flow of the film continuously going from back to front. These movements are mainly when the children and running, when the grater grates the soap to make snow, when the popcorn is being sewn onto a thread and many more, this gives the animators the chance to save time as they are able to reuse certain movements, other than redrawing each frame one by one. In a way, reusing frames are good as this means that creating the short animation won't take as long, although, as the world of animation has progressed, the new generation are more appealed to the quality and detail in the animation, they want it to almost have the effect of coming alive from the screen, seeing something new in every episode and watch how realistic the animation can get.
